Hoe long does it take you? I bought the full version of Photoshop CS5, but I haven't really started with it yet. you are really good, I want to be a game designer, and I need to get good with Photoshop, you got any tips, tricks, or tutorials?

oh :) First i suggest you to take a real moment to understand the philosophy of the software. It's important to know how to use the tool first. There is a plenty of good tutorials on the net to get started with photoshop.
But the most important is the practice :)

Thats true, I had a some practice in a college class I took for typography....
But yeah I need to get to know the software and watch tutorials, I love your work :)

LOL all of the stuff on my page right now is really old stuff. I have just been in an artist slump because I tend to stress myself out when it comes to coming up with ideas. I have a bad habit of comparing my art to others.
I think my art looks simplistic but awesome at the same time

The second phase is an overlay of color... but what did you do in the third phase to define the character?

Cool concept! I really like the hair cut!

He sharpened it and brightened it.
Note the transgression to brighter, more well defined hair. There is also more subtle alterations that I'm sure you can pick out.
